Originally from Connecticut, Dr. Pacchiana received his Bachelor’s degree from Lafayette College in Easton, PA in 1991 and graduated from the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine in St. Paul, MN in 1997. Upon graduation, he completed a one-year general internship in medicine and surgery at the Oradell Animal Hospital in Oradell, NJ (1998) and a one-year surgical internship at the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center in Dallas, TX (1999).
He returned to the University of Minnesota and completed a three-year residency in Small Animal Surgery while simultaneously obtaining a Master’s of Science degree in Veterinary Medicine, Surgery, Anesthesia, and Radiology (2002). Dr. Pacchiana has been board-certified in small animal surgery by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons since 2003.
He practiced at several 24-hour specialty referral hospitals in and around New York City and was the Chief of surgery for 8 years at Manhattan Veterinary Group and the Fifth Avenue Veterinary Specialists and also held several other leadership positions, including Medical Director of the hospital and Director of the Internship Program.
Dr. Pacchiana enjoys public speaking and has spoken on many occasions at national and local meetings. He also enjoys research and has published nearly 20 articles in national peer-reviewed veterinary journals. He has performed thousands of orthopedic, soft tissue, and neurosurgical procedures and has experience in treating almost all surgical conditions in dogs and cats.
