Whether your pet is in for a routine procedure such as a declaw or growth removal, or requires a more complex orthopedic or emergency procedure, you can be assured he or she will receive the finest surgical care available at Valley Cottage Animal Hospital. Our hospital is open 24-hours a day, seven days a week in order to provide the best emergency medical and surgical care for your pet. We maintain a state-of-the-art critical care ward for pets with serious medical problems. Valley Cottage Animal Hospital is one of the few veterinary hospitals in the Rockland County and Upstate NY area to offer these advanced surgical services.
Orthopedic Surgery
Valley Cottage Animal Hospital is equipped with a state-of-the-art surgical suite designed to accommodate surgical procedures ranging from routine spays and neuters to more complex soft-tissue, orthopedic and emergency surgeries. All orthopedic procedures at our hospital are performed by Dr. Robert Steckel, a veterinary surgery specialist and diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. Dr. Steckel has many years experience performing a wide range of orthopedic surgeries ranging from cruciate and patella (kneecap) repairs to TPLO and complicated fracture repair surgeries.
Laser Surgery
Laser surgery minimizes bleeding, reduces pain and swelling and promotes more rapid healing. When your pet undergoes laser surgery, he or she recovers more quickly and faces less post-operative pain. Laser surgery also is more precise and greatly reduces the risk of infection. Valley Cottage Animal Hospital is one of the few hospitals in the region that have this capability. Laser surgery allows us to perform complex surgeries that otherwise might have to be referred to specialists.
Emergency Services
Valley Cottage Animal Hospital is open 24-hours a day, seven days a week. We provide emergency care for dogs, cats and exotic pets in Valley Cottage, White Plains, Putnam, Nyack, Nanuet, New City, Palisades Center, Stoney Point and Rockland County. We are available to treat your pet should he or she require emergency medical care. In the event of an emergency, if possible, please call ahead before you come in so that we may better prepare to treat your pet.
Oxygen Therapy
Oxygen therapy benefits patients by increasing the supply of oxygen in the lungs, which increases the availability of oxygen to the body tissues. Oxygen therapy has been found to increase white-blood-cell killing activity, reduce swelling and inflammation and fight bacterial infections. Oxygen therapy is used to treat spinal-cord trauma, intervertebral disc disease, head trauma, inflammatory nervous-system diseases and other conditions. Valley Cottage Animal Hospital is pleased to offer this advanced treatment modality for your pet.
